Blooming Your Matcha Whisk
Before using your bamboo whisk for the first time (and before each use):
Soak the prongs of the whisk in a bowl of warm water for about 1-2 minutes. This softens the bamboo, allowing it to bloom and expand, and helps prevent breakage. You will notice the curved prongs slowly start to straighten.
Cleaning Your Tools
- Rinse the whisk and tea scoop with water to remove any remaining powder. Avoid using soap, as it can damage the delicate bamboo.
- Shake off excess water, and air dry completely before storing.
- Use dishwashing soap and water to clean the tea bowl, sieve/sifter, and whisk stand.

Second purchase of a kit from Moonbug, first one I got last March and is being used mostly everyday at home + during matcha pop-ups — going strong. Repurchased because the ceramics and tools are sturdy and of good quality.
Spending some moments making matcha is a nice, intentional break in a busy day! This kit has everything you need to have that moment of renewal (of energy, or relaxation). The ceremonial matcha is smooth, rich, and earthy - a healthier alternative to (and far cry from) the over-sweetened drinks in coffee shops! Highly recommended!
